Understand the Process
Players will commit at different times throughout the year. You might see others committing & want to hurry but take your time to make sure the school feels right. That your confident about the coach & the program is a good fit for you & your educational goals.
Focus on your journey & get the right college program that fits for you. Verbally committing to a college program has a major impact on the recruiting at that school & others. Do your homework & choose the school & program that feels right for you.
NCAA Guide Link
If you're interested in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) it is focused on guarding student-athletes and giving them the tools to play successfully on the field, thrive in classrooms and in life. NCAA D1 & D2 offer academic and athletic scholarships. As for D3 colleges they only offer academic scholarships. It's important to do your research.

NAIA Level
If you're interested in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) it's an association dedicated for small colleges and universities in America. Many student-athletes are able to find a NAIA lacrosse program that fits the athletes playing & educational goals. NAIA colleges and universities are able to offer a ton of academic and athletic scholarships.

Create Your Recruiting Account + Links:
It is very important to get yourself noticed so college coaches can see how you play. If you haven't yet, make a recruiting account through NCSA, & NAIA Recruiting Center. Also, make a personalized Instagram lacrosse account of you playing at tournaments, doing lacrosse drills at home, playing in HS games etc. and follow as many colleges as possible. It's important to reach out to college coaches.

Freshman thru Senior Year - Questions to Ask Self
Start of the process:
- Know what you want: D1, D2, D3, NAIA
- How far away?
- What kind of major?
- How much playing time do you want?
- What kind of time commitment are you looking for?
- Are you an academic fit for the school?
THEN MAKE YOUR LIST 20-30 SCHOOLS
Get on the Radar:
- Showcase Tournaments
- One day clinics
- Small squad tournaments (5v5, 7v7)
- College Lacrosse Camps
- Recruiting Showcases
- Post video online on your lacrosse social media accounts
**Remember D1 & D2 coaches cannot contact you directly, make sure to include your club or recruiting coaches on your email & social media**
Get Feedback:
- Leverage your club/recruiting coaches to understand if colleges have interest in you.
- Take PSATs/SATs/ACTs
- Keep your grades up
- Positive social media presence
- Narrow your list, refresh as needed by the time your (Sophomore to Junior Year).
- Continue to email coaches where to see you & thank them after.
Honest Assessment:
- Sep 1st, if you got phone calls or emails great! Understand what the program is offing & how you fit.
-Next steps = phone calls with coaches & campus visits (Junior to Senior Year).
- Keep your options open until a verbal offer is made.
- If you did not get the offer you wanted, find out where you are on their list & reassess your options.
- Continue to leverage your club/recruiting coaches to understand if colleges have interest in you.
- Work hard at Fall tournaments & clinics
- Keep your grades up & positive social media.
Senior Year, Keep it up:
- Take Official College Visits
- Keep your grades up
- Maintain high fitness levels
- Positive social media presence
- Finish HS strong on & off the field
